AngelFest Worlds Shortest Parade

The winning entries of AngelFest 2009 “World’s Shortest Parade”
Along the parade route – from one side of Second Street to the other side – there was a surprising amount of creativity and coordination on display. Assembling in the Friary Gardens and ending up in the school playground, the entries had thirty feet to show off their stuff.
And boy did they! We had sixteen entries in the first of this annual AngelFest parade. Though most of the entires came from our parish, a handful came from the larger community. It was very difficult for the judges – all non-parishioners – to select the winners in each category. But here they are:
The Most Creative Entry ($300) – “the Petite Parade of Padre Pauls” by Jason, Paul, Joseph, John and Peter Difuccia dressed up as Father Paul.
The Most Wacky Entry ($200) – “Not the Fruit of the Loom,” with Dan Keyport of “Dolce Vita” dressed up as a bunch of grapes.
The Cutest Entry ($100) – A float of Two Angelic Babies
The Four Most Angelic Entries ($50 each) – the parish’s Little Ringers group, the Bucket-Head Kazoo Band, Mrs. Hritz’s G.A. School Second Graders singing “Angels Watching Over Me,” and The G.A. Choir of Angels.
The pastor’s special “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe they did that!” Award goes to G.A. School student-created AngelFest Princess Float, featuring two unnamed boys from the school … yes … dressed up as our two award-winning female educators. The prize? $200!
