August 2010
Dear Guardian Angels Faith Formation Parents: Our summer is quickly coming to an end and with the end of summer we all begin to look towards the new school year. The Faith Formation Academic year begins Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 6:15pm with an all program family event in the Church. This evening is part of our curriculum for grades one through ten and ALL families need to be in attendance. During this evening event, we will begin the year by participating in a whole program community prayer service. After we pray together we will review our program’s guidelines and rules. You and your child(ren) will have the opportunity to meet your catechist and receive a complete Faith Formation year calendar. As you look over the calendar please make note of the various parent student sessions, reconciliations, and Masses that are part of your child’s curriculum. It is extremely important that both student AND parent attend these sessions. For those involved, First Communion will be the weekend of April 30/ May 1, 2011 and Confirmation will be on Saturday, April 9, 2011. If we have not received your registration forms for the 2010-11 Faith Formation Programs, you will find them enclosed. Please be sure to complete all four (two double sided sheets) of the forms for your family as well as ensuring that both you and your child(ren) read, understand and sign the Behavior Policy and Parent Responsibility Sheet. Additional forms, if needed, are available on the GA website. The completed forms need to be returned by Wednesday, September 1, 2010 with payment to the parish office so that we know how many students to plan for and determine our catechist needs. Registration will be cut off at this point until we can access our volunteer needs. Registration will reopen once we are assured that we have enough volunteers for our program.
Enclosed with this mailing you are receiving a sample of the newsletter that will be sent to you on a weekly basis. This newsletter includes a weekly calendar, Gospel reflections for the upcoming week, articles and information about our Catholic Church that can be helpful to your family catechesis, fun trivia, parish event information and much more. Please note – new on your registration form this year is a place where you can indicate how you would like your newsletter to be sent home; email or a hard copy with a child. If you choose to have the newsletter sent via email it will be sent on Tuesday evenings, hard copies will be sent home on Wednesday evenings after Faith Formation classes.
We are currently looking for more volunteers in many capacities; please contact me if you are able to help in any way – as a Catechist, a substitute, catechist assistant, a hall monitor, sibling care, or clerical help.
Finally, if you have already committed to sharing your time and talents with the Faith Formation students, Thank You! Please remember all volunteers in our programs, must have completed both a background check and a Virtus session before our first session. (This includes hall monitors and substitutes.) If you have any questions regarding either of these items please don’t hesitate to contact me.
