Our Mission Statement
Guardian Angels has been an anchor in the Chaska community since 1858, providing a strong Catholic tradition in support of faith, family, community, and education. We are blessed with the opportunity to strengthen, expand, and embrace the ever-changing needs and diversity of our community through the sacraments as well as our educational and liturgical ministries. We continuously strive to be a vibrant, faith-filled community, working together while embracing diversity, to nourish spiritual life in order to enhance our relationship with God, and to allow us to live out our call to worship, teach and serve.
About the Mission Statement
In the Fall of 2003 representatives from the Parish Pastoral Council, Finance Council, School Advisory Committee, Faith Formation Advisory Committee and representatives from many of the long-standing committees and groups gathered in St. Francis Hall to formulate a new mission statement for the Parish that more accurately represented Guardian Angels Parish. The large gathering was divided into three groups with the first asked to reflect on G.A.'s historical accomplishments as a church and school. The second group as asked to think about what our church and school looked like in the present moment -- i.e. what our strengths were and what we are accomplishing now. The third group was asked to vision where we hoped to be in the near and not-so-near future. After each group brainstormed and reflected for a short time period, each was asked to summarize what they felt where their top 3 to 5 items. The entire assembly was then brought together and, as a group, assembled what they felt was the most appropriate statements from the past, present and future -- being allowed to combine, pick and chose to create a new statement. The result is what you see above. The exercise was a very powerful experience for all involved: We felt that our mission statement fit Guardian Angels Church and School, Guardian Angels Parish very well -- and was specific to us. As time has passed since that historic meeting, the new Mission Statement has stood the test of time and still very accurately describes where we've been, where we are now and what we hope to accomplish in the future!
